My name is Candace Bilbrey. I starting teaching in 2003 and have been at Van Buren since 2005. I am married to my first love and we have two amazing girls. I enjoy running and spending time with my family and friends. I also LOVE Disney. I love teaching kindergarten and making students feel loved and important. Every child is special and I am so grateful to start off their life long learning experiences.

Currently I am known as "Kindergarten Gans" because my daughter in law teachers 5th grade here at Van Buren. I began teaching in Idaho in 2007, first as an instructional coach and now as a kindergarten teacher since 2010. No matter how advanced, or not, when kids come to kindergarten, they all love you. I love to see the growth in kindergarten. They grow and learn so so much. At home I enjoy reading, sewing, crocheting, gardening and most of all spending time with my grandkids (3 of them are here at Van Buren). Van Buren is the best place I have ever worked (and yes, I have worked other places)!

I graduated from The College of Idaho with my bachelors degree in 2018 and my masters degree in 2019. Following college, I began teaching at Van Buren during the 2019-‘20 school year. When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my husband, Jason, and our dog, Duke. We love to be outside, try new restaurants and go on trips. I absolutely adore teaching kindergarten!

I started working at Van Buren fulltime in the year 2000 when my youngest daughter was a first grader. That daughter actually graduated from college before me. I went back to school and finished my degree in December of 2015 and started teaching kindergarten at Van Buren in 2016. I have a wonderful family and enjoy spending time with them. My husband is Rick. We met in college. We have grown three daughters. Michelle, Ali, and Karissa. They all graduated from Caldwell Highschool and received their Bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University- Idaho. We also have one son-in-law and will get another this year. And we have 2 adorable granddaughters. We love to spend time in the mountains camping, hiking, and sitting by the fire eating smores. We like road trips especially ones that take me back home to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. My hometown instigated my interest in Civil War history and my family's history. There is always something new to find. I love learning and I want my students to love it too!

I have been teaching at Van Buren since 2019 which was also my very first year of teaching! I grew up in western Washington and moved to Caldwell to attend the College of Idaho. In my free time you can find me reading a good book or exploring the outdoors with my dog! I love teaching kindergarten because it is amazing to see how much each kid grows and learns in their first year of school and it is so exciting to see their faces light up when they realize how much they have learned.
