MUSIC GRADES
3/9/2021
I finished accepting homework for 3rd quarter on Friday, March 5th.
If you have questions on your grades,
please click here to learn more about how grades work.

Students- If you haven't got 3's in each standard, be sure to do the required work in your Google Classroom on the Digital Wednesdays. Keep up the good work!
As you know, I love America and our Veterans. In honor of veterans day, I have been sharing a special music class session about Veterans, Freedom, the Pledge, and the Star-Spangled Banner. These links will take you to videos made by our very own Mrs. Katie teaching how to sign the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance. (Thanks, Mrs. Katie!!!)
Testing Week
It has been good to see many of you at Van Buren this week!!! I hope we get to be together soon.
Thanks to everyone who has been working on their music assignments. Keep it up.

Hispanic Heritage Month
Anyone who knows me well, knows that I love to celebrate the importance of family roots, cultures, and the many heritages that make us who we are.

This month is Hispanich Heritage Month which is a lot like the 4th of July in that it is a celebration of Freedom for many Latino countries. In addition, this month is a celebration of Hispanic Culture and Heritage. I like the way the children in this video explain their connection to their family roots and heritage.

If you would like to see some very talented Hispanic Musicians, Click this link to watch the Villalobos Brothers put on a digital concert!
I am so excited to post a brand new video!!!

Learnin' Like A Wheel Turns performed by the 2019-20 4th & 5th Grade Choir.

If you don't know the song yet, this will help you learn it.

If you do know the song, you'll have fun watching the video and practicing with it.

I hope you have as much fun watching it as I did making it.

I played the game BLOB CHORUS: EAR TRAINING with some of you in your class streaming session. Some were asking about it. It is a paid game from Lumpty. You can find the information by clicking "music" on their website.
Parents: Remember you DO NOT have to buy it, this is just a resource that is available. FYI: The app is only currently in Kindle store or IOS. For some reason it was taken off of the Google Play store.

If you are looking for some great free games check out these Google Doodles.

* History - Google Doodle has a fun Beethoven game

* Composing - "Fischinger" a Google Doodle composition game.

* History & Composition - an artificial harmonizing tool using techniques from "Bach"

They are in the WEBLINKS: easy to use list, too.

There was a lot of stress at VB during those last few days we met in the building. I saw so many ROCKSTARS doing their best to adjust to things, but it was a bit overwhelming. I decided to help by writing a song. Some of you have heard it, but I want EVERYONE to be able to hear it. You'll find the link at the end of the paragraph. Remember to do the things in the song when you feel stressed. As you do, I know that you will be able to let go of stress and find more happiness. Be Strong! It's "Gonna Be Alright"

With all of us doing the right thing and staying at home here's a fun hand washing video from one of my favorites-Peter Hollens. There are other great videos on my YOUTUBE:Links page. If you would like to have some fun learning music check out the "WEBLINKS: easy to use" tab.

2nd-5th Grade, if you have been wanting to try the app we use in class, have your parents help you on the "ADVANCED WEBLINKS" tab.

I MISS YOU ALL!!! and remember YOU ARE THE BEST!!!
