Second Grade Team

Kelly Garey

I started working for the Caldwell School District in 1991 at Sacajawea. Two years later I moved to Lincoln, and then moved to Van Buren in 2006. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th grades and was the science specialist for two years. I am also a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy Reserves. I joined the Navy Reserves in 1992. I retire June of 2022. My husband retired in 2020 from a 32 year career in the military. I have two sons, Grayson and Brennon. I am fortunate because I love kids, and I get to teach. I love this country, and I am able to support it in the reserves.

Mrs. Goede is married and has two adult sons. She has been teaching
at Van Buren since 1994. In her spare time, she likes to read, walk her
dog, garden, make cards, and visit family and friends. Mrs. Goede's
place is the beach.

I started working at Van Buren in 2007. I have taught 1st, 3rd, and now 2nd grade. I love spending time outdoors - hiking, downhill skiing, white water kayaking, camping, and golfing. My favorite thing about teaching is being around the children and seeing their excitement when they learn something new.

Mrs. Strand has taught 2nd grade in Caldwell since
2007. On weekends you will find her spending time
with family camping, hiking, biking or riding her ATV
in the mountains. Her favorite thing about being a
teacher is seeing her students’ growth academically,
emotionally and socially throughout the year.

I began teaching at Van Buren in 2018. I taught 3rd grade for

2 years. I now teach 2nd grade. I am married. We have one

son named Jeremy and an adorable Shih tzu, Bandit. I also

have a sweet grand-dog named Kali. Idaho has been my

home for 20 years. I enjoy the four seasons here in Idaho. I

love gardening and anything that takes me outdoors. What I

love most about teaching is building relationships with kids

and their families. It is a special gift to watch kids as they

grow and develop in their learning.
